Corgi Classics - TV and Film |
First broadcast on 30th December 1977, 'The Professionals' was an instant hit achieving 10 million viewers in its first series. It centred on CI5, a branch of the secret service set up by the British Government to apply military intelligence-gathering and combat techniques to tackle anarchy, terrorism and crimes against the public. CI5 was headed by former MI5 controller George Cowler who had hand picked an elite squad of 40 agents, including hit top 2, Bodie and Doyle. Ray Dole was a former east end detective constable and William Bodie a member of the Paras and SAS. The show ran for 5 years with 57 episodes attracting almost as much controversy as acclaim and although rarely seen still remains a cult favourite today.
