Until the summer of 1940, the Bf109E gave the Luftwaffe fighter supremacy over Europe, but having to fight the Battle of Britain at the limits of its range placed a severe handicap on its performance. Helmut Wick was a career pilot (he joined the Luftwaffe in 1935) and once shot down 5 RAF fighters in one. Includes display stand and specially designed display box.
