Corgi Classics - Drive Time / Vanguards |
No other range of cars has entered folklore more rapidly than ‘The Cossie’. The original 1986 three-door became a legend overnight and dominated touring car racing. Ford then did an about turn and turned the legend into a Q-car by installing the running gear into the much more conservative looking Sapphire saloon. They then added four-wheel drive in 1990 and went rallying with a car that was far more competitive than any 176 inch long vehicle had a right to be! Francois Delecour and Miki Biasion threw them around with great panache and achieved a surprising number of top three finishes, although the Sapphire never actually won a round of the WRC.
