Corgi Classics - Drive Time / Vanguards |
The Rover P6 of 1963 was a radical departure for the Solihull based Rover company. A stand-alone, completely new car with no significant carry over parts, it used a de Dion rear axle, independent front suspension and a new 2 litre SOHC 4 cylinder engine. The body panels were bolted to the monocoque, which also acted as a safety cell, should the all round disc brakes fail to prevent an accident. Chief engineer Spen King had produced a car that was ahead of its time in many ways and stylist David Bache added a unique and farsighted style to both the interior and exterior.
