The 100E was a unitary construction two or four-door saloon, very much inspired by the larger Consul-Zephyr range of 1950. With MacPhersonstruts, providing independent front suspension, and a driven live rear axle running semi elliptic leaf springs, it set the template for medium/small cars that Ford would follow until the launch of the front wheel drive Mk3 Escort in 1980.
