The Company AK Longson Ltd was formed because it’s founder, Anthony Kent, is the managing Director of both AK Transport Ltd incorporated in 1977 and Sam Longson (Buxton) Ltd incorporated in 2002 after Mr Kent acquired the business of Sam Longson Ltd, a company formerly owned by the Chairman of Derby County FC. These companies operate 70 vehicles from their Ashbourne and Chapel-en-le-Frith sites in Derbyshire. The fleet is made up of 60 Articulated Powder Tankers carrying dry powders and liquids, 4 Articulated Tippers, generally carrying sand, and 6 Rigid 8 Wheeled tankers hauling Dry Mortar. The fleet consists of DAF, Renault and ERF Tractor Units with trailers mostly made by the German Manufacturers Feldbinder and Spitzer.
