N.T. Whitfield (Transport) Ltd was formed in 1981 and is located on Portrack Lane in the heart of Stockton’s industrial and commercial sector. The fleet comprises of 30 Volvo tractor units, seventy skeletal trailers and several curtainsided trailers. The majority of these are plated to 44 tonnes. The silver and maroon units all have a distinctive hand painted livery to produce a very professional image for any potential client. The main part of the business is UK container transport of exports and imports and containers are stored on site for several shipping lines. The 4-acre site is operational 24 hours a day and has approx. 20,000 sq. ft. of warehousing. Since 1967, ACL has been a specialised carrier of containers, project and oversized cargo, heavy equipment and vehicles with the world’s largest combination RORO/containerships. ACL is headquartered in Iselin, New Jersey with offices throughout Europe and North America. ACL’s main weekly service calls include Baltimore, Norfolk, New York and Halifax, Liverpool, Antwerp, Bremerhaven and Gothenburg. ACL offers five transatlantic sailings each week and also offers container and roll-on/roll-off services between North America and Africa and the Mediterranean. ACL is a company of the Grimaldi Group of Naples, Italy.
