Corgi Classics - Aviation Archive |
Some thirty plus Meteor F.8s were converted to a simple target tug configuration and redesignated "Meteor F(TT).8". The only modification was the fitting of a target towing lug under the fuselage, allowing the aircraft to pull a target banner along. To facilitate target-towing for No.20 Squadrons’ Hunters and No.74 Squadron’s Lightning’s based at Tengah, Singapore in the 1960s, No.1574 Flight flew a small number of Meteor F(TT)8 from nearby Seletar for target-towing duties, operating off the coast of Singapore until they were withdrawn from use in 1971.
