After WW2, there were many redundant bomber aircraft including several Avro Lancasters, all of which had to be adapted to a peace-time role rather than just being broken-up. RAF Coastal Command's School Of Maritime Reconnaissance (later renamed No.1 Maritime Reconnaissance School) was formed at R.A.F. Station St. Mawgan, Cornwall on the 1st of January, 1955.
