This Junkers Ju-87B-2 flew with probably the best known of all the Stuka units, 4/StG 2 Immelmann and appeared like this in 1941 at the opening of the African campaign after the capture of Crete. In those early months in the desert the Bf 109 escorted Stuka was a formidable weapon. Two main types of mission were carried out by the Stukas during this period in early 1941 - against the enemy’s ground forces and against British coastal shipping and this is where StG 2 came into it’s own
