Corgi Classics - Aviation Archive |
LM360 was flown by Flt Lt William Reid on the mission for which he was awarded the Victoria Cross. Bill Reid won a ‘classic’ Bomber Command VC, being awarded the ultimate military decoration for pressing onto his target despite severe damage to his aircraft and major injuries to himself. LM360’s undercarriage collapsed on landing but the aircraft was repaired and went onto serve with Nos 50 and IX Sqns. It was finally written off whist assigned to the latter unit when it suffered a landing accident at Fiskerton on 11th November 1944.
