Pickfords' first steam vehicle on record was a 1903 Wallis and Steevens 3-ton steam tractor. Although a solitary English steam van was tried out in 1905, it was the Hindley that put Pickfords steam haulage onto a firm foundation and 1906 marked the start of steam vans being used for meat deliveries from Smithfield market to the shops. Later, Aveling and Porter wagons and tractors were bought along with a batch of Foden wagons and a Burrell tractor, some secondhand. View other product and find out more about Corgi Classics.
