Edward Ind bought the Star Inn Brewery at Romford, Essex, in 1799. Two brothers, Octavious Edward and George Coope became Ind's partners in 1846, forming Ind Coope and Co Brewery. Ind Coope merged with Samuel Allsopp and Sons Ltd in 1934 to create Ind Coope and Allsopp Ltd. This Foden wagon was built in the 1920s and was originally owned by Oppenshaw's. It was painted in the Ind Coope livery by an enthusiast who also added the tank in order to carry water for the boiler of this, and other steam vehicles at rallies and shows.
