This famous East Anglian Company was founded by Herry Pointer and was later run by his son Peter. In the early days the Company was more involved in civil engineering than in general haulage and, as a result, their vehicles escape nationalisation in the late 1940's. Following de-nationalisation, over 100 vehicles were being operated and the fleet continued to expand. As well as supplying sand and gravel, the Company became involved in general haulage and in the transport of bulk liquids. Although some of the vehicles were operated in customers' colours, most of the fleet sported the famous Pointer dog logo. As well as their headquarters in Norwich, the Company had a number of other depots including Ipswitch and Kings Lynn. The Pointer Group used a number of different makes in its fleet including AEC Mammoth Major 8 Wheelers and Guy Invincibles on tipper work. Commer rigids and artics were used for light traffic and Leyland Beavers and AEC Mandators for heavier work. The Scammell Highwayman was used with both low-loaders and tankers - this example was used in the transport of fuel oil. View other product and find out more about Corgi Classics.
