One of Lancashire's best known hauliers, W H Bowker's history dates back to 1919. During the 50s, fruit was the main traffic but in the early 60s Bowker's became one of the first British hauliers to offer a UK/European service. In 1989 the Company moved from Blackburn to Preston and today operates a modern fleet of 150 trucks and 350 trailers specialising in international haulage. The Leyland Clocks The idea of clocks advertising Leyland Motors on the main trunk roads was a coup for Leyland. The first clock appeared in 1930 and there are believed to have been seven althogether plus a replica in South Africa. The towers were designed by Franco Reflex Signs of London and the mechanism by William Potts and Sons Limited, clockmakers of Leeds. Although some survived in preservation, the whereabouts of the others remain a mystery. View other product and find out more about Corgi Classics.
