2000 saw the production of the most famous small car of all time finally come to an end. 2001 will see the re-birth of this legendary marque under a new guise and sleek new look. Developed chiefly on site at the English facilities of the BMW Group's product development division, it will be equipped with a 1.6 litre engine from a plant in Brazil operated jointly with Chrysler. Positioned as the direct successor to Sir Alec Issigonis's 1959 classic, the new generation adds state-of-the-art-technology to tradtional Mini values such as optimum interior space within a compact exterior dimensions and superior driving comfort.
