Samuel Webster was just 25 years old in 1838 when he acquired the small brewery business and extensive water rights at Ovenden Wood, just two miles from the centre of Halifax. By 1845, Samuel Webster had bought his first public house, The Lane Ends Inn, and from that moment on the company expanded. Breweries such as Joseph Stocks and Sons fo Halifax and J. Hey of Bradford, were acquired, while building a fine estate of public houses. The Fountain Head Brewery at Ovenden Wood has continued to grow in size and reputation for a century and a half. Its breing excellence is regarded worldwide, as witnessed by its unrivalled success for its traditional ales in International Competition. View other product and find out more about Corgi Classics.
