Corgi Classics - Aviation Archive |
XM655 was delivered to the RAF on 20th November 1964, joining No.IX Squadron at Cottesmore. After serving with this unit it went on to No.44 Squadron, No.50 Squadron and No.101 Squadron before returing to No.44 again at Waddington. When the Squadron was disbanded in 1982 the plane was released for tender and in 1984, after being bought by Vulcan advocate Roy Jacobsen, it was ferried to Wellesbourne Mountford. After a change in ownership and many years hard work XM655 is currently at full ground running capability and is maintained by 655 MaPS (the Maintenance and Preservation Society) at Wellesbourne.
