Limited Edition. The Fw 190 was the scourge of Fighter Command from the moment it appeared on the Western Front at Aabeville in August 1941 with II./JG26. Nimble, speedy and armed to the teeth, the 'Butcher Bird' quickly gained a reputation making it one of the most formidable opponents of the Allied fighters and at medium and low altitudes was considered by many as superior. This particular aircraft is depicted shortly after JG 1's major reorganisation of 1st April 1943. Beyond the standard set of national insignia and Gruppenkommandeur chevrons there is also the Gruppe's 'Devil in the Clouds' badge on the cowling, the black and white cowling design to allow the Gruppe to reassemble quickly in the during combat, the green spinner of the Gruppenstab and the black and white zigzag pattern aft of the exhaust slots to hide any exhaust stains. Most interestingly on this aircraft though are the eight tiny flags below the cockpit illustrating the career of Fritz Losigkeit to date.
