Corgi Classics - Aviation Archive |
XH558 was the first Vulcan to enter RAF service on 1st July 1960. Its long career was to have ended in September 1984, but was reprieved following selection to join the recently formed RAF Vulcan Display Team (VDT), and made its airshow debut in May 1986. XH558 thrilled millions with her unique displays, the last flight was on 23rd March 1993 when she flew to the British Aviation Heritage Museum at Bruntingthorpe in Leicestershire after being purchased by C. Walton Ltd. Here it is regularly displayed doing high speed taxi runs and it is hoped that one day it may be permitted to return to the air.
