The legendary Lockheed C-130 Hercules carried out many roles during its service in the Vietnam War. One of the transport units of the United States Air Force was the 21st Tactical Airlift Squadron, 374th Tactical Airlift Wing, based at Naha Air Base, Okinawa, Japan during the late 1960s. This unit operated the original model of the Hercules, designated C-130A, which could be distinguished from later versions by having three-bladed propellers and smaller external wing fuel tanks outboard of the engines. 56-0489 saw service with this unit in Vietnam during 1968-70 before the California Air National Guard in 1972 and finally being sold transferred to the South Vietnam Air Force in November 1972. It was withdrawn from use in 1975. View other product and find out more about Corgi Classics and Aircraft.
