W4004 was the sixth Sunderland MkIII built at the old works at Rochester in January 1942. It is shown with ASV MkII radar, which required matched rows of dipole aerials along the top and sides of the hull and on inclined poles near the wingtips. This aircraft served with RAAF No.461 Squadron at Mount Batten, Plymouth.
