Corgi Classics - Aviation Archive |
On the evening of May 16th, 1943, fourteen aircraft from 617 Squadron, led by Squadron Leader Guy Gibson took off from RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire on 'Operation Chastie'. The missions aim was to make a bombing raid against the Mohne, Eder and Sorpe Dams in Germany's Ruhr Valley. The Lancasters flown that night had been specially modified to carry the ingenious bouncing bomb designed by Barnes Wallis which was codenamed 'Upkeep'. The success of this mission is now legendary part of our history and is recreated in this Dambusters model. View other product and find out more about Corgi Classics and Aircraft.
