Pan American Airways Inc., was a major user of both the DC-2 and the DC-3 before WWII. Their first DC-3s were ordered in 1937 and more were bought surplus post-war. Some of those used during the war saw service in Africa with PAA-Africa, including NC16094. Built as construction number 1915, DC-3 NC16094 was initially delivered to Eastern Airlines on 18th December 1936 and was sold to Pan American World Airways in October 1941.
