Built as Construction Number 259, G-AOYJ was a Viscount series 806 powered by four Rolls-Royce Dart turboprop engines. It was originally delivered to British European Airways in January 1958 and faithfully served BEA until it was sold to Cambrian Airways in October 1970. These airlines were merged in the formation of British Airways on 1st April 1974 and G-AOYJ was repainted in the livery depicted by this model, continuing ti give faithful service throughout the airlines' European routes, operating from London Heathrow Airport. In April 1981, it was sold to British Air Ferries and was re-registered G-BLOA, flying in the colours of several leasing airlines until it was withdrawn from use at Southend and broken-up in August 1996.
