Corgi Classics - Aviation Archive |
Limited Edition. The 'Blue Angels' are the United States Navy's precision aerobatics display team and are the oldest aerobatics team in the world, being formed in 1946 with Grumman F6F Hellcats. Ever since then, they have performed throughout North America to recruit naval aviators and demonstrate the aerial discipline and showmanship of the US Navy. Following a line of Grumman-built aircraft types, in 1969, the 'Blue Angels' re-equipped with the awesome F-4J Phantom II with her two General Electric J-79 engines, a total of 34,000lb of thrust including afterburner, which could propel the 44,000lb figter-bomber at speeds of more than 1,600mph to altitudes of 100,000 feet.
