Corgi Classics - Aviation Archive |
Charles 'Chuck' Yeager demonstrated a blend of cockiness and fearlessness which served him well in both the War and later as a test pilot. Yeager ended the war with 11.5 aerial victories but was himself shot down, evading capture with the help of the French Resistance. As a test pilot after the war Yeager achieved fame as the first to break the sound barrier. This particular Mustang was coded B6-Y and was the third of Yeager's Mustangs, all named after his sweetheart, 'Glamorous Glen'.
