Corgi Classics - Aviation Archive |
As combat altitudes increased the green and brown fighter camourflage scheme was considered too dark and a new one was introduced. After much trails on Spitfires, a Hurricane was painted in Medium Sea Grey and Olive Grey with Sky Blue under surfaces at North Weald in May 1941. After further trials with a variety of day fighter schemes the decision was taken to retain the current dark green and add the new Ocean Grey with Medium Sea Grey under surfaces, thereby reducing the man hours involved in such a change. This came in after 15th August 1941 and is depicted on this Hawker Hurricane Mk II of 164 Squadron. View other product and find out more about Corgi Classics and Aircraft.
