In 1942 the MkIIA/B was officially modified for Air-Sea Rescue duties and designated Type 375 Spitfire MkIIC. In this instance the 'C' suffix was used to distinguish this variant from the fighter versions rather than wing armanent differences. Essentially a non-combatant aircraft, the IIC retained its armament and, in addition was fitted with a small rack for two rescue marker smoke bombs under the port wing. ASR Spitfires were issued to No276 and 277 Squadrons and pooled to other ASR Squadrons as and when required. View other product and find out more about Corgi Classics and Aircraft.
